This is an example of the intriguing rolling ball clock invented in 1808 by William Congreve, an English artillery officer. A steel ball traverses the track and gives the illusion of the clock running by perpetual motion. SOLD

English tavern clock with fusee movement and long drop pendulum.

This clock was made for the Bicentennial from Ben Franklin's designs for his three wheeled wall clock. The specially designed dial has one hand and is read in four segments.
